While there has been plenty of criticism surrounding the new comic book flick Justice League, we need to talk about Superman’s upper lip.
Henry Cavill plays the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the film, a role which apparently called for a clean cut face. However, when Cavill had to re-shoot some scenes for Justice League, it coincided with filming for Mission: Impossible 6. Cavill reportedly grew out his stache specifically for the role, so there was some hair drama in Hollywood.
While it’s not exactly clear how things went down, Paramount and the mustache prevailed, so Warner Bros was forced to digitally remove Superman’s mustache, and it does not look good at all.
While advancements in digital mustache removing technology has come a long way in the past years, the upper lip on Cavill is laughably bad, and probably could have been avoided if the studios were able to come to an agreement. For instance: would anyone have noticed if Cavill’s character in Mission: Impossible 6 had a fake mustache? Probably not.
Like any CGI mess up, there were memes, jokes, and shade galore.
The only mildly entertaining part of Justice League is the shitty CGI they used to cover up Henry Cavill’s mustache.

I wish Justice League was just a full length documentary about how Henry Cavill had to keep a full mustache during reshoots that they had to CGI out

From a Batman News commenter… 😂
How to remove a Superman mustache the WB way:
1. Open Photoshop.
2. Click the clone stamp tool.
3. Brush off the stache for about 2 minutes by cloning other parts of the face
4. Do it frame by frame.
And you’re done. pic.twitter.com/TJmI3yJuzm
