We have all received some questionable dating advice, from “treat them mean to keep them keen” to the “Three-Day Rule”, it is a miracle that the world’s population can even sustain itself.
Thankfully, there are dating heroes hidden in plain sight across this world, like superheroes lying in wait. They lie low in the most unlikely of places, ready to come to the rescue at the precise moment when you need them most. For Jake Moreno, his knight in shining armor would come in the form of his Philosophy of Religion professor. The 22-year-old was desperate to land himself a date with Hannah, the girl of his dreams, but he felt that he couldn’t do it alone. So, he drafted in the assistance of his teacher, Shannon Atkinson, to help him construct a careful plan to win Hannah’s heart. Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Atkinson explained:
“Jacob approached me after class wondering if the triangle and Aristotelian Rhetoric could be used to ask a woman on a date and I was intrigued, thus my help. Honestly, Jacob was the brains behind the whole thing; my part was only in helping him form the ‘wording’ of the text so he didn’t come off too strong.”
While Jake approached his teacher in a comical manner, the two committed to the challenge and put their heads together to create a fail-proof plan. “I wasn’t lying when I said I don’t have many skills when it comes to wooing the ladies,” Jake told BuzzFeed News. “I did not think Hannah would say yes.” But, Hannah did say yes. Clearly their hard work paid off, as Jake got the date. But, once on the date, could he keep her interested without the aid of Professor Atkinson? Apparently he could. “Just got back from my date look how cute Hannah is, I still can’t believe she said yes,” he typed, alongside a series of photographs from their date. “We finger painted the sunset together it was so amazing and the painting was good but the real masterpiece was next to me the whole time,” he wrote, excitedly. He also revealed the moment everyone had been waiting for, the reveal of her dog, Winston. “Also Winston is chill AF,” Jake wrote, with the images showing the adorable puppy. But, what did Hannah think of it all? “Honestly, I kind of thought it was funny,” she told BuzzFeed News, whilst also explaining that she doesn’t have a Twitter account. When asked about the date she said she was “super impressed” by the effort, which was a unique approach and one not adopted by other boys. “I felt like it went well. I guess we’ll just have to see,” she said, cryptically when asked about a future for the pair. Meanwhile, users online are frantically campaigning for the imminent marriage after becoming “emotionally invested” by the story. However, they haven’t forgotten Jake’s professor who was the catalyst behind his courage. Speaking of what will happen for him next, Prof. Atkinson explains: “I guess it was quite successful because Jacob said she said yes, went on the date, and now perhaps matchmaker will have to go on my résumé in the near future.” Intrigued to learn more about dating?
