When you’re a hard working mom with a Direct Sales business it’s extremely simple to find one day that life is completely out of balance with the scales tipped deep toward the business and whatever else hanging on to the other end for dear life. Since I have seen many a mother stress out of direct sales as a result of this chaotic unbalance, I wish to motivate you, Direct Sales Mommy, to find a Sabbath rest on your own and your company.
A while back our family chose, rather drastically, to take the reality of a Sabbath rest seriously, mostly due to the fact that our company believe the 10 commandments are still that– rules. And since the fourth rule of “keep in mind the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy” falls between the third and 5th rules it’s just as valid as “Thou shalt not commit adultery”.
This wasn’t as simple as it sounds. It was, however, one of the most freeing things I’ve ever done personally and direct sales-wise. Prior to it’s time to hit the pillow on Saturday night, I make a deliberate effort to make sure all “work” is done and closed down the computer up until Monday. My voice mail message, my e-mail and my instant message programs all are immediately set to respond with something like, “Sorry I missed you. I’ll return to you on Monday.”
Think of, an entire day, spent in rest and pleasure. No believing about my direct sales service.
Even if you’re not one who believes in the bible, that simply makes an entire bunch of sense. Your household requires to you take a rest from the work. Your consumers need you to revitalize for 24 hr so you can serve them with gusto starting once again on Monday morning. YOU need the break to restore your mind, however that looks for you, and to take some time to smell the flowers … or perhaps plant them if that’s relaxing for you.
The focus of the biblical command is that of holiness … focusing your mind for that entire duration on God and His magnificence. I have to admit, that is still a battle for me. I battle to keep my mind at rest and I still invest much of my Sunday thinking of what I’m going to do on Monday.
I can’t even describe how wonderful it is to not even have the alternative to act on it. Instead of running up to my computer “simply one more time”, I can rest. Instead of mulling over a style for a leaflet, planning my next celebration or answering downline e-mails, I can read the bible or another terrific book … one that has nothing to do with Direct Sales, downline management, organisation structure ideas or sales techniques!
And you understand what else? On Monday early morning I get up prepared to hit it hard. Yes, my inbox is full of e-mails, but it’s a delight to look through them, actually read them instead of skimming, and answer with a renewed mind.
My household is happy, my consumers more than happy, I enjoy … and I like to believe that God is pleased at my efforts too.
It was, nevertheless, one of the most releasing things I’ve ever done personally and direct sales-wise. No thinking about my direct sales business. Your family needs to you take a rest from the work. I combat to keep my mind at rest and I still spend much of my Sunday thinking about what I’m going to do on Monday.
Instead of mulling over a style for a flyer, preparing my next celebration or answering down line emails, I can check out the bible or another great book … one that has nothing to do with Direct Sales, downline management, company building ideas or sales tactics!
